READY OR NOT HERE WE COME;
Voices of Child Care Workers
is a seventeen-minute
documentary produced by the
Worthy Wage campaign in
1999, featuring a variety of
child care workers from the
Delaware Valley. It has been
an excellent tool for
education among workers,
parents and boards of
centers and the community at
large.
They speak of their love for
the work, their frustration
with low pay and lack of
respect for their
professions and what makes
it hard to believe that
anything can change. They
talk about the potential and
excitement of working
together, what led them to
get involved, how they are
sustained by this work, what
they are doing, and the
hopes they have for the
future. Throughout the video
we not only meet and hear
from a group of warm,
committed women who are
caring for our country's
future, but see them at work
with the children, and in
action on their own behalf.
